1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Player Name โ€“ The display name you choose for your profile and the leaderboard.
  • Date of Birth โ€“ Used to verify age eligibility and apply appropriate privacy protections for minors.
  • Country, State, and City โ€“ Used to display your location on your public profile and enable region-based leaderboard filtering.
  • Avatar Image โ€“ A profile picture or in-app avatar you select or upload to personalize your account.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Scores and Game Progress โ€“ Your quiz results, points, levels completed, and overall progress within the game.
  • Achievement Data โ€“ Badges, trophies, and milestones you unlock during gameplay.
  • Device Information โ€“ Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers to help us diagnose issues and optimize performance.
  • Advertising ID (GAID) โ€“ Your Google Advertising ID, used to deliver personalized or contextual advertisements through Google AdMob.
  • Crash Reports and Diagnostics โ€“ Automated reports when the app crashes or encounters errors, including stack traces and device state at the time of the error.
  • Usage Data โ€“ Information about how you interact with the app, such as session duration, features used, and gameplay patterns.

2. Purpose of Collection

We collect and use information for the following legitimate purposes:

Player Profiles

To create and maintain your in-game identity, display your name, avatar, and location on your public profile page.

Leaderboards

To calculate rankings, display your position on global and regional leaderboards, and enable fair competition.

Progress Tracking

To save and sync your game progress, unlock achievements, and allow you to continue from where you left off.

Analytics & Improvement

To understand how players use the app, identify popular features, debug issues, and continuously improve gameplay experience.

Advertising

To display relevant, non-intrusive advertisements through Google AdMob that help keep the app free for everyone.

Safety & Compliance

To verify age eligibility, apply appropriate privacy protections for minors, and comply with legal obligations.

3. Third-Party Services

Math Hopper uses the following trusted third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs their data use:

Google Firebase

Services used: Firebase Realtime Database, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics.

Data shared: Player profiles, scores, achievements, crash reports, and usage analytics.

Purpose: Database storage, user authentication, crash diagnostics, and app performance monitoring.

Services used: Mobile advertising SDK.

Data shared: Advertising ID (GAID), device information, general location (country/region), app usage context.

Purpose: Displaying contextual and/or personalised advertisements to support the app's free availability.

Services used: Google Play Games API, in-app licensing, and platform integrity checks.

Data shared: Google account information (if signed in via Google Play Games), device identifiers.

Purpose: Authentication, game saves, achievements, and Google Play compliance.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. Data shared with these services is governed by their respective privacy policies and is used only for the purposes described above.

4. Children's Privacy

Math Hopper is designed to be used by children and is subject to Google Play's Families Policy and applicable children's privacy laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and similar regulations globally.

  • We collect Date of Birth to identify users who may be under 13 years of age.
  • For users identified as children under 13, we collect only the minimum data necessary for gameplay (player name, scores, achievements) and do not use their data for behavioural advertising.
  • Advertisements shown to users identified as children are family-safe and served in a non-personalised manner in compliance with COPPA and Google's policies.
  • We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to share personally identifiable information beyond what is required for gameplay without verifiable parental consent.
  • Parents and guardians may request review, correction, or deletion of their child's data by contacting us at batham925@gmail.com.
  • If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will promptly delete it.

5. Data Security

Protecting your data is a core responsibility we take seriously. The following security measures are in place:

  • Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses TLS/HTTPS encryption.
  • Encryption at rest: Data stored in Firebase is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption managed by Google Cloud infrastructure.
  • Access controls: Firebase Security Rules restrict database access so that users can only read and write their own data.
  • Authentication: User accounts are protected through Firebase Authentication with secure token-based sessions.
  • Crash monitoring: Firebase Crashlytics monitors for anomalies that could indicate security issues.

Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a unique, strong password and keep your device software up to date.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide services:

  • Active accounts: Player profiles, scores, and achievements are retained for the lifetime of your account.
  • Inactive accounts: Accounts with no activity for 24 consecutive months may be scheduled for deletion, with advance notice sent to the registered contact if available.
  • Crash and diagnostic data: Retained for up to 90 days to support debugging, then automatically purged.
  • Advertising data: Managed and retained by Google AdMob per their data retention policies.
  • Upon deletion request: All personally identifiable information is permanently deleted within 30 days of a verified deletion request.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data (see Section 8).
  • Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to Object: Object to processing of your data for direct marketing or other purposes.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.

8. Data Deletion Requests

You have the right to request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.

How to Submit a Deletion Request

  1. Send an email to batham925@gmail.com
  2. Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
  3. Include your registered Player Name and the email address associated with your account (if applicable)
  4. We will verify your identity and confirm the request within 5 business days
  5. Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of verification
  6. You will receive a confirmation email once deletion is complete

What Gets Deleted

  • Player profile (name, date of birth, country, state, city, avatar)
  • All scores, achievements, and progress data
  • Account credentials and authentication records
  • Any associated usage and analytics data we hold

Note: Some anonymised, aggregated statistical data (e.g., total number of games played platform-wide) may be retained as it cannot be linked back to any individual user. Third-party services (Firebase, AdMob) manage deletion of their respective data per their own policies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or app features. When we make significant changes:

  • We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
  • We will notify users through an in-app notification for material changes.
  • Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The current version is always available at this URL and linked from within the app.
